Yin Yoga

In Yin yoga, most poses are seated and are sustained from two to five minutes. Yin yoga is working with connective tissue, fascia, joints and ligaments. Compared to Vinyasa yoga which concentrates on muscles too.

Yin Yoga is linked to Chinese Medicine philosophies rather than Indian traditions. Most yoga is yang in nature—faster paced and more dynamic—whereas Yin is slow, steady, and deeply grounding. You stay in each position for longer, breathing into the edge of discomfort and noticing sensations and thoughts as they arise and pass.

In this process, connective tissue is lengthened and strengthened. Yin increases flexibility, releases tension, boosts circulation and reduces stress. Our style of Yin incorporates fascia release techniques which we studied under Anya Hawkes.
